The following scholarships listed below are in no particular order.

1. University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships.

To get the scholarship for the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships (UMGF), you have to have to have been registered as a student at the university either as a Masters or PhD student. The scholarship is worth $14,000 and $18,000 yearly for each Master’s and PhD student respectively.

Please note that for Master’s and PhD programs, students can only receive the stated amount for the first 24 months ( 2 years) and 48 months (4 years) respectively.  You are also required to have at least 3.75 GPA in the preceeding 2 years of study at the Bachelor, Master’s or PhD levels before the application for the scholarship.

Apart from Medicine and master degree in Business Administration, all other applications at the graduate level are welcomed for the scholarship.

2. Canada Graduate Scholarships.

The Canada Graduate Scholarships are targeted at the Master’s program for students who during their undergraduate and Master’s programs have proven to be innovative, thorough, well-skilled  to helping them stay at the highly skilled and qualified level and help further their research skills.

Before applying you should note that you have to have been fully admitted to a Canadian University which is affiliated to the Canada Graduate Scholarships Master’s Program which is only valid for 12 months at $17,500 per graduate student.

3. NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships.

  • You have been verified by Simon Fraser University as being qualified for financial assistance
  • If you are in your term and above, you have at least a 3.00 CGPA while enrolled at Simon Fraser University.

6. Queen’s University International Scholarships.

Queen’s University is located in one of the most prestigious cities in Canada and its capital, Ontario. You have to be aware that some of these awards are open to students from selected countries though. Do verify which ones your country is eligible for as an international student.

You have to be fully enrolled in the University of Waterloo to enroll for this scholarship. Also required are a student visa or study permit with not be on any other scholarship as at the time of application.

14. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.

This scholarship was recently made available by the government of Canada. You have to have been fully admitted in a Canadian university, have research potential, academic excellence and of good leadership quality.

It is open to students undertaking Master’s and PhD programs in engineering, health or social sciences.


15. New Brunswick Scholarship Program.

As funded by the provincial government of New Brunswick, this scholarship program is open to students enrolled in the University OF New Brunswick and other universities in the region who are not being funded and from households with average income of $60,000 or less.
