1. California Dance Academy Nutcracker Ballet
California Dance Academy’s (californiadanceacademy.com) The Nutcracker is a big scale professional production featuring over 60 students together with expert guest artists in Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park.
California Dance Academy, under the direction of Jennifer and Robbin Shahani, continues to follow a great tradition of Rozann-Zimmerman Ballet Center, which served young dancers with perfect training for over 50 years.
The California Dance Academy faculty includes teachers with years of experience in teaching and performing, each of them with specific areas of expertise, bringing a wealth of knowledge to share. Many of California Dance Academy’s students have been gaven scholarships to prominent national training programs like San Francisco Ballet School, Miami City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and Pittsburgh Ballet. While others have gone on to college dance programs and/or pursued professional careers.
The prospectus, which draws on the best of R.A.D., Vaganova and Cecchetti techniques, is cautiously designed to offer technique and instruction suitable for the age and physical development of the student. The emphasis of training is on the excellence, fun, and joy of dance at each level of achievement. The principles, discipline, artistry and mental-physical development acquired through the study of standard ballet provide students with the confidence, focus and grace for success in years to come.
2. California Nutcracker Ballet
peace and Puppets Tour features Dove of Peace character was shaped by 2 dancers moving as one bird and the corporation’s whimsical use of puppets of all sizes to signify the 5 key heritages of the world.
Inspired by Bolshoi Ballet Principal danseur Stanislov Vlasov, who was choreographer/balletmaster of Moscow Ballet’s inaugural 1993 Great Russian Nutcracker, beside with partner Lilia Sabitova, who was privileged as People’s Artist of Russia, The Dove of Peace leads heroine Masha and her Nutcracker Prince into the Land of Peace and Harmony (Land of Sweets). Lavish hand-sewn costumes were made in one of the first costume shops in Russia and designed by Arthur Oliver.
3. California Christmas Boat Parades
Its evening in Huntington Beach and December is naturally a nice weather. Nevertheless, an rare rain can occur. The boats have many covered areas so you can stay dry on the rare occasions when this happens. Remember to bring a jacket or coat. Temps can drop down into the 50s.
The cheerful volunteers shuttle you from Huntington Harbour Place with ample, free parking in the back of the mall. 4. California New Year
I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t celebrate the New Year. This popular event Held each year on December 31, the historic & world-famous Casino Ballroom on Catalina Island brings back the magnificent days of this island icon when big name – big bands captivated the who’s who crowd to dine and dance to the likes of Benny Goodman and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The icons have passed, but their memory lives on in music performed by gifted musicians who revive the spirit of an era during this one-night event that has been part of the island merriment since 1972.
Avalon Casino Annual New Year’s Eve Gala is the largest event fundraiser hosted by the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce. Optional black tie attire, a buffet dinner, champagne split, party favors, photographer taking pictures and a classic California setting like no other provides for a unique and unforgettable way to launch the New Year.
A buffet dinner and reserved table seating are usually part of your booking, alongside with a dinner time, with a small part of the band acting for dinner, and the moving into the full orchestra after the last dinner seating. Coat & Tie are required.
